Long time readers know I often chat about boater friendly good eats places.  While in Seattle for the 2008 boat show I discovered a little place just across from the Qwest Field, Sluggers Sports Bar, their sign says, ‘kids welcome’.  They are off I-5 a bit but easy to find (take the Qwest Field exit) and I suppose if you don’t sail into port you could park at the large parking lot across from them if you’re trailering your boat.

While I’ve seen them for many years, I’ve never gone into visit until this trip.  My hubby, aka The Dock Ape Idiot and I decided it would be nice to start off the day with a Bloody Mary, something we do only for very special occasions.  I have to say without a doubt, they make the best Bloody Marys we’ve ever had.  While we were warming up in the morning we took the opportunity to look over their menu.  As they open very, very early for the workers getting off the night shift, we even had the chance to see one of their burger plates go past.  It smelled great and looked really good.  The menu isn’t huge but offers some good eats.

It’s a casual place with enough TV’s to offer everyone a super view of their choice of sports.  The long bar has comfortable bar stools, is backed by a row of booths and continues upstairs for even more seating.  The energy was pretty low-keyed and laid-back when we visited but I’m sure it kicks up several notches both pre and post games.

We ventured back at the close of the day to try out the grub.  They offered a wonderful fish and chips special that night.  While we weren’t famished we definitely wanted a decent sized snack.  So we split the order and each of us had two pieces of crunchy outside and tender inside fish and almost too many french fries.  The food was great and we backed it with a cold beer plus, the service was on the mark both times we visited.

We had a nice chat with the table next to us about the boat show and what type of boat they were looking for. So, if you’re looking for a comfortable and friendly place to fill up and kick back, look no further than across the parking lot from Qwest Field.  Located at 537 Occidental Ave S Seattle Washington, the Sluggers Sport Bar is group friendly, has happy hours specials and is smoke free.  If you drop in at Sluggers, please tell them we sent you!
