Oregon’s Biofuel Mandate Law was passed into law last year thanks to the nitwits in Salem at the State Capitol. I think it’s going to cause problems for many boaters.  Starting in January the blended fuel became mandatory in Multnomah, Clackamas, Washington, Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, Yamhill, Polk, and Marion counties. The City of Portland has its own requirement for ethanol-blended fuel already in place.

By April 15, 2008, Linn, Lane, Benton, Lincoln, Douglas, Coos, Jackson, Josephine, and Curry counties will join. By September 16, 2008, all counties east of the Cascades will complete the full statewide implementation.

Now you might think this isn’t going to cause problems but the chances are good if you have an older boat, you’re not going to like what this fuel may do to your holding tank.

US Boats has a great pdf you should look at.  I think biofuel is going to be the baine of boaters in Oregon.  Click here to read the pdf file.
