Boating problems arise constantly, which is part of the fun/challenge of boating. It doesn’t matter if you wakeboard boat, ski boat, sailboat or if you travel in a very up scale motor yacht. There are tons of problems plus tons of solutions. This blog is dedicated to boaters of all makes and models and I try hard to stay with articles that are not time sensitive or political.

Long, heavy sigh…I’m going to talk briefly about a piece of legislation that needs every boater in or considering traveling in the USA to become involved with…especially the US voters.

H.R. 2550 is the topic for today.

I understand the need to control invasive species but…this all started as an attempt to regulate the discharge of ballast water from ocean going commercial ships. I agree; we need to control invasive species such as the Zebra Messel. However, as it stands now this will affect all of us, apparently all the way down to our dinghies!

Boat U.S. is pushing for the passage of H.R. 2550, “The Recreational Boating Act of 2007” this will continue a 34 year exemption applied to recreational boats. I would like to urge all boaters in US waters to contact their legislators to co-sponsor H.R. 2550.
